With continuous clashes between the Myanmar Armed Forces and Chin National Defence Force (CNDF), Myanmar nationals from Chin State continue to cross into Mizoram in India. 29,933 refugees from Myanmar are currently taking shelter in different parts of Mizoram state.
Fighting between the Myanmar army and various Ethnic Armed Groups in eastern Myanmar’s Kayin State has forced more than 10,000 civilians to seek shelter along the country’s shared border with Thailand.
According to DG ECHO partners, at least 1,600 people have crossed the border from Myawaddy township, Myanmar to Umphang District, Tak province, Thailand since 17 March. Media reported that Thai officials have refused entry to the refugees and that there are food shortage risks. The border crossings remain very fluid due to the ongoing fighting.
