Casualties and damage have been reported following the 5.5 M earthquake (5.4 M as registered by the National Institute of Civil Defense - INDECI) that occurred in La Capilla district (Moquegua department, southern Peru) on 12 July at 23.36 UTC (18.36 local time).
According to INDECI, two people were injured, more than 300 affected, and almost 200 houses damaged across the departments of Moquegua and Arequipa.
