More catastrophic flooding has struck in Venezuela, this time in the coastal state of Anzoategui in the north east of the country.

Heavy rain triggered flash floods and landslides in parts of Guanta and Juan Antonio Sotillo municipalities on 04 November 2022. The state government reported severe damage to around 186 houses in various parts of the affected municipalities. A total of 229 families have been affected and around 260 people evacuated.

Governor of Anzoátegui state, Luis Marcano, visited some of the affected areas. He confirmed that 6 people had died in the city of Puerto La Cruz and another in the nearby town of Guanta.

Venezuela has seen a string is flood disasters since April this year. Dozens of people lost their lives in floods and landslides in Aragua state in October. in Late October 3 people have after heavy rain and flooding in areas of Caracas and the northern state of La Guaira.

The state of Anzoátegui also saw flooding in October when the Unare River broke its banks twice in 2 weeks. The government of Anzoátegui state reported around 700 to 1,000 homes damaged in areas between Clarines and Onoto in Juan Manuel Cajigal municipality. A total of 4,000 families were affected.
