
Since 21 November, Cotopaxi volcano, located close to Latacunga city in Cotopaxi province (central Ecuador) about 50 km south of Quito, started a new volcanic activity, and the ash plume reached up to approximately 2 km above the summit of the crater.
According to the Geophysical Institute of Ecuador (IGEPN), on 26 November, a huge emission of gas and ash have been reported. The ash traveled north-northwest, more than 85 km from the source, and fall down across the sectors of El Pedregal, Tambillo, Guamaní, Amaguaña, Chillogallo, Quitumbe, Solanda, Lloa, Conocoto, Wholesale Market, Villaflora and Rumipamba.
As of 29 November, the activity is still ongoing.
