Since 25 December 2022, shear line and floods have affected Visayas, the northern portion of Mindanao and Luzon in Philippines. The most affected area is Misamis Occidental, which has been declared state of calamity. Around 136,357 people (44,282 families) in 385 Barangays are affected. 13 persons are reported dead, 6 injured and 23 persons missing. Around 45,337 people (10,536 families) have stayed in 87 evacuation centres (ECs). Around 3,376 families have taken temporary shelters outside ECs or with relatives.
534 damaged houses were reported in Regions VIII, IX, X, MIMAROPA, and BARMM. 110 road sections and 4 bridge sections have been affected (15 roads and 3 bridges still not passable) and 56 cities/municipalities experienced power outage.
The government continues to publish warnings and advisories for shear line. Search, Rescue, and Retrieval operations and damages assessments are ongoing. The Philippine Red Cross is on the ground providing health, food, hygiene promotion, and rescues assistance.
Wetter conditions are expected in the coming week according to ASEAN Specialised Meteorological Centre.
