On 26 December 2022 - 1 January 2023, heavy rain and strong winds occurred across Central Java Province, causing floods, landslides and severe weather-related events that resulted in damage. The most affected localities are Kendal, Grobogan, Jepara, Pati, Pekalongan, Demak, Semarang City, Kudus, and Pekalongan City.
According to the ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet), 5,200 people have been displaced, 68,500 families have been affected, and more than 72,000 houses damaged.
The National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNPB), is providing humanitarian assistance for those affected.
On 3-4 January, moderate to heavy rainfall with localized thunderstorms are forecast over Central Java Province.
