
A landslide event triggered by recent heavy rainfall occurred on 10 January in the Municipality of Rosas Cauca, in the Cauca Department (western coast of Colombia).
The landslide affected a portion of the Pan-American Highway and destroyed more than 60 houses. National authorities (UNGRD) performed air rescue operations, and more than 700 individuals have been affected by the event.
According to the Colombian Meteorology Department (IDEAM), on 9-10 January, the rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours reached 103 mm in Santander de Quilichao and 95 mm in Rosas Cauca.
Moderate to locally heavy rainfall is forecast over most of western and central Colombia, including the Cauca Department.
