Stormy weather in the state of Santa Catarina in southern Brazil has caused fatalities and material damage in 26 municipalities. The cities of Rio Negrinho and Ascurra have declared a state of emergency, with 80 people displaced and 60 buildings and structures damaged in Rio Negrinho alone.
Emergency rescue teams are searching for two missing people in a landslide in Rodeio, where three bodies have been recovered and 190 people have been displaced. Power outages have affected thousands of customers in Rodeio and Ascurra. Flooding and displacement has also been reported in several other cities including Bom Jesus, Ituporanga, Benedito Novo, Canoinhas, Concórdia, Major Vieira, Três Barras, Lauro Muller, Siderópolis, and Pomerode.
