Heavy rainfall in Mali from December 2022 to mid-January 2023 has caused widespread floods and river overflow in several parts of the country. This has resulted in displacement and damage, with over 600 people in the village of Nangadourou being displaced by the overflow of the Sourou River and more than 1,000 affected households in the Tombouctou Region due to the overflow of the Niger River. Humanitarian partners have mobilized to assess the need for immediate response for the affected people in Baye Commune. Currently, no rain is expected in Mali for the next 24 hours.
