Between 1 October and 29 December 2022, 28 internally displaced persons and returnees were abducted by non-state armed group members in the Bama local government area (LGA), in north-eastern Borno State. This included 15 women reportedly out in the bush scouting for firewood, six children and seven men. The events took place across seven communities in the LGA. The last abduction occurred on 29 December, when two women were abducted in Goniri ward. Attacks on communities and kidnappings continue unabated in north-east Nigeria, where 8.3 million will need assistance in 2023.
Nigeria, an African country on the Gulf of Guinea, has many natural landmarks and wildlife reserves. Protected areas such as Cross River National Park and Yankari National Park have waterfalls, dense rainforest, savanna and rare primate habitats. One of the most recognizable sites is Zuma Rock, a 725m-tall monolith outside the capital of Abuja that’s pictured on the national currency. ― Google
