
The 3rd High-level Conference on the Lake Chad Region was hosted by the Governments of Niger, Germany, and Norway along with the United Nations in Niamey, Niger on 23 and 24 January. The conference focused on addressing the growing humanitarian needs, root causes, and interconnected dimensions of the Lake Chad Basin crisis and strengthening the resilience of affected people. Improved security in the region has created opportunities for the return of state structures, social services, and economic revitalization. Participants committed to enhanced coordinated action and collaboration among various stakeholders, with over $500 million announced to support locally led joint action.
