bolivia    Bolivia

Bolivia is a country in central South America, with a varied terrain spanning Andes Mountains, the Atacama Desert and Amazon Basin rainforest. At more than 3,500m, its administrative capital, La Paz, sits on the Andes’ Altiplano plateau with snow-capped Mt. Illimani in the background. Nearby is glass-smooth Lake Titicaca, the continent’s largest lake, straddling the border with Peru. ― Google

Over the past few days, heavy rainfall has caused significant damage and resulted in casualties across five departments in Bolivia. According to the Civil Protection of Bolivia (VIDECI), as of 7 February, two people have died in La Paz Department and 10,445 families have been affected in La Paz, Santa Cruz, Cochabamba, and Potosi departments.

The heavy rainfall has resulted in floods, causing damage to infrastructure and homes, and leading to disruptions in daily life for the affected families. VIDECI and other local authorities are working to provide support and assistance to those impacted by the floods.

For the next 24 hours, moderate to localized heavy rainfall is expected across most parts of Bolivia. This may result in further damage and disruptions, especially in areas that are already affected by the recent floods.

Several municipalities in La Paz and Chuquisaca are under high hydrological risk until the 11th of February, and residents in these areas are advised to take necessary precautions and follow the instructions of local authorities.

This report will be updated as new information becomes available.
