On Saturday, 5th August at 18:33 (UCT), a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 and a depth of 10 km struck Pingyuan county in eastern China's Shandong province. The epicenter of the quake was located 26 km away from the largest nearby city, Dezhou, which is home to a population of 679,535 residents.

As of Sunday morning, reports indicate that 21 people from the cities of Dezhou and Liaocheng have been injured as a result of the earthquake, with fortunately no reported deaths. However, the impact on infrastructure has been severe, with 126 houses collapsing in the affected area.

Emergency rescue teams have been swiftly dispatched to the region to aid those in need and assess the extent of the damage. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, as aftershocks are expected to follow the initial quake.
