On 9 August, heavy rain and strong winds hit the Sougri-Nonna temporary site in Kaya, affecting 1,165 people, including 986 children, 125 women and 54 men. This forced them to seek shelter in wet conditions with a high health risk. Local sources indicate that 100 shelters were damaged, seven collapsed, and 15 lost their tops, while 2 MT of food assistance was exposed to the rain, with 1 MT lost to damage. The Sougri-Nonma site hosts around 31,450 people and was established by regional authorities in July/August 2022 in a flood plain.
