As of August 21st, according to the authorities, floods nationwide affected 88,516 individuals. So far, 31 people died, 35 have been injured and 3,169 livestock killed. In addition, 7,866 houses have collapsed. The Maradi region is the worst affected, with 28,968 people. In the Diffa region, 6,920 persons have been affected, since the start of the rainy season. This represents an increase of 64 percent, compared to the reported 53,803 victims on 14 August. The government has provided 709 tons of cereals to assist the affected people, with a 338.45 tons gap. However, there has been no response for shelter and non-food items so far.
