After the state of emergency was declared in several locations in the southern part of the country, the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation (MVCS) has arranged to send 92 temporary housing modules (MTV), which will provide a safe shelter to hundreds of settlers whose houses have collapsed or are uninhabitable.
The MTV have an area of 18 m² and have three environments: two bedrooms and a multipurpose space. Each module can accommodate about five people. The sending of these modules to the emergency zones is managed by the General Directorate of Housing and Urban Development Programs and Projects of the MVCS.
Thirty of these temporary modules are being transferred to the town center of Cocas, in Ayacucho, an area that was affected by a huaico. These modules will be installed in a safe area located five minutes from the emergency zone.
In addition, 17 modules are being transferred to the district of Sandia, in Puno, a town in which several homes were destroyed by the huaicos and river overflows. The installation of these modules will be carried out in the immediate vicinity of an educational center.
Six of these modules are already in the town of Pisac, in Cusco, after several of its streets and homes were flooded by the overflow of the Kitamayo River. These MTVs are being installed in a plot of the parish of Pisac.
In addition, the MVCS will mobilize 25 housing modules to the Alto de la Alianza district, in Tacna, which was seriously affected by the heavy rains and water damage that caused destruction in the southern zone. The MTVs will be installed in a water park of the district municipality.
Finally, the transfer of 14 temporary housing modules is being managed to the district of Samegua, in Moquegua, an area that suffered havoc due to heavy rains and rain. Currently, the local government is defining the land where MTVs will be located.
These 92 modules will house about 460 people affected by the huaicos and overflows recorded in recent weeks.
