A magnitude- 6 earthquake occurred northwest of Dali, Yunnan Province at 21:21 May 21. The epicenter was about 18 km (11 miles) northwest of Dali. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 14 km (8 miles), and light shaking was probably felt throughout north and central Yunnan. There have been no initial reports of damage or casualties as a result of the earthquake.
