Wildfires across France and Spain forced more than 325,000 people from their homes during July 2026. Reporting on 29 July placed the evacuation total at 330,000, including about 220,000 people in France and more than 110,000 in Spain. Three firefighters were reported killed in Greece as fires spread across southern Europe, while more than 42,000 hectares burned in France's Gironde region.
