Situation
A flash flood struck Nagari Batang Barus in Gunung Talang district, Solok Regency, West Sumatra, on the evening of 21 September 2026 after intense rainfall. BNPB’s 26 September update confirms two deaths, four injured people and about 480 people displaced; the search and rescue operation ended after all people reported missing had been located. This is the final reported casualty status in that update. Earlier observations of one death, one missing, 32 displaced and a separate 474-person displacement count remain in the evidence history.
The 26 September BNPB assessment records 98 houses affected: 19 heavily damaged, 16 moderately damaged, 52 lightly damaged, eight inundated and three at risk. It also reports 12 government buildings affected, five roads, two bridges and about 57 hectares of farmland. The separate 23 September local-government count of 87 damaged houses and BNPB’s earlier approximately 100 homes affected are retained as distinct observations; their scopes and assessment stages are not treated as directly interchangeable. The 14-day emergency-response period was declared earlier.
