Situation
A forest fire that began on 24 July 2022 in Bohemian Switzerland National Park in northern Czechia spread into Saxon Switzerland National Park in Germany. Residents of Hřensko, Mezná, Mezní Louka and Vysoká Lípa were evacuated, while steep terrain, wind and limited access complicated firefighting. European assistance included helicopters from Poland and Slovakia, rescEU aircraft and Copernicus Emergency Mapping activation EMSR610. By 4 August the affected Czech area had reduced from about 1,060 hectares to under 500 hectares, while crews continued extinguishing outbreaks.
