How the score is calculated
The score starts at 8. It adds points from recorded affected, deaths, displaced and casualty counts, plus terms found in the story title, event type or status. For each count, only its highest matching band is used.

- Deaths
- 1–9: +8 · 10–99: +14 · 100–999: +22 · 1,000+: +30
- Displaced people
- 1–9,999: +6 · 10,000–99,999: +12 · 100,000+: +18
- Casualties
- 100 or more: +8
- Story wording
- +10 for terms such as catastrophe, famine, war, conflict, major earthquake, mass casualty or critical. Otherwise, +5 for active, ongoing, emergency, outbreak, cyclone or hurricane.
Score bands: Watch 0–24 · Moderate 25–49 · High 50–74 · Critical 75–100. Scores are capped at 100. Missing or unparseable figures add no points.

Situation
Six people died in separate wall-collapse and electrocution incidents across coastal Andhra Pradesh on 24 September as heavy rain and gale-force winds accompanied a deep depression crossing near Kalingapatnam. The reported deaths included an eight-year-old boy killed when a rain-soaked wall collapsed in Kakinada district and five people electrocuted in separate incidents in Anakapalle, Bapatla and Krishna districts. One additional person was reported injured in the Anakapalle electrocution incident.
In Visakhapatnam, State Disaster Response Force and police teams rescued all 70 residents from a 15-apartment building after rainwater entered its cellar and first storey. Andhra Pradesh authorities deployed eight SDRF and five NDRF teams to high-risk districts. In Srikakulam district, officials established 86 relief centres housing 221 residents and shifted 42 pregnant women nearing delivery to hospitals. These district-specific response figures are retained in their reported scopes and are not treated as a statewide displacement total.
Officials also reported 690 kilometres of Roads and Buildings Department roads damaged across the state, with 614 vulnerable locations identified for continuing clearance and preliminary restoration costs estimated at INR 4.0218 billion. A subsequent state energy update said the power network had been restored after the storm, including 18 feeders and two critical transformers. No statewide affected-population total was reported, and WorldsAid does not infer one from the geographic spread of damage.
