How the score is calculated
The score starts at 8. It adds points from recorded affected, deaths, displaced and casualty counts, plus terms found in the story title, event type or status. For each count, only its highest matching band is used.

Situation
An inter-cluster situation report for Chad's Lac Province records 75,210 people displaced since May 2026 across 16 sites in the Fouli and Kaya departments. The report says insecurity remains the main driver, particularly around the Lake Chad islands and the border with Niger, and no organised return is expected in the short term.
Four additional displacement alerts were validated in Fouli. Boultou Dalla and Choukou Kangara already host 5,965 people, while figures for Choukou Kandra and Djiguidi are still being consolidated. The report states that these newer movements are not yet included in the 75,210-person planning baseline, so WorldsAid preserves them separately and does not add them to that figure.
The same report records an active cholera outbreak with 802 cases and 46 deaths as of 30 September, including 25 community deaths. These are disease-specific figures and are not treated as conflict casualties. Persistent gaps in health care, safe water, hygiene and sanitation increase transmission risks in displacement sites.
