Situation
Rafah refugee camp was established in 1949 in southern Gaza near the Egyptian border. The recovered WorldsAid archive records that many residents later moved into the adjoining Tel El-Sultan housing project, making the camp difficult to distinguish from Rafah city. It reports an original population of 41,000 and a historical registered population of 125,304, alongside overcrowding, unemployment, housing shortages and inadequate water. These figures describe the archived 2021 record and should not be read as a current population assessment.

WorldsAid verification
A WorldsAid editor reviewed this record against 2 attributed sources, cleaned feed formatting and checked the crisis, place and reporting date. 8 human-impact figures were separated from the narrative and dated where the source allowed. Earlier observations remain in the evidence history instead of being silently overwritten.
