An earthquake of 6.0 M at a depth of 18 km occurred in western Guerrero State on 11 December at 14.31 UTC (8.31 local time). The epicentre of the earthquake was approximately 14 km east of Tecpán de Galeana city and 73 km north-west of Acapulco city (Guerrero State).
Several aftershocks with a maximum of 4.2 M have been recorded in the area. USGS PAGER estimates that up to 94,000 people were exposed to strong shaking.
According to media reports, there are no immediate reports of any casualties or damage.
